Transport Fever 3 Mods

Mods come through the Mod Hub in the main menu, which is powered by mod.io and works the same on PC, Mac, Linux, PS5 and Xbox. There is no Steam Workshop: the developers chose one hub for every platform instead. Every mod on it is free, and more than 200 were already there on launch day.

Installing mods

  1. 1

Open the Mod Hub from the main menu

Browse, search and subscribe from inside the game. Each mod has a fixed ID, and the game detects missing dependencies for you.
  2. 2

Enable mods when you set up a game

Mods are chosen per save on the new-game screen. Deluxe Edition and pre-order content are switched on here too, as mods.
  3. 3

Save a preset if you reuse a list

Mod presets live in their own folder in your userdata directory, so a favourite set of mods is one click on the next save.
  4. 4

Manual install still works on PC and Mac

Drop a mod folder into the mods folder of your userdata directory. Leave the Mod Hub's own download folder alone; the game manages it.

The four mods already in the game

Some options you might expect in a menu are delivered as built-in mods you tick at game setup:

Sandbox Mode

Edit your bank balance, set the calendar to any date, place or demolish towns and industries, and change cargo demands and each town's sensitivities. There is no separate sandbox mode; this is it.

No Costs

Switches money off entirely: everything is free and the balance shows as infinite.

Tycoon

Starts your company at the top rank with every perk unlocked, so all landmarks, prospecting, marketing and industry greening are available at once.

Vehicles: No End Year

Vehicles never retire: once a model appears, it stays on sale.

Transport Fever 2 favourites that came back

Urban Games shipped six free packs of early vehicles from the previous game on the hub at launch (what else changed since that game is on the comparison page), listed on the vehicle list, plus the single-deck TGV PSE and Atlantique. From the community, the Timetables mod by celmi was ready on launch day; the timetables page explains what it adds and what the base game offers without it.

The Curated Mods Program

Urban Games funds a group of established modders with early access, developer support and grants, and features their work in the hub. Their mods are free like every other. To apply, a modder needs at least ten published mods, at least 100,000 downloads in total, at least one standout work and consistently high ratings.

Known issue: PC saves on consoles

Saves uploaded from PC to the Mod Hub cannot be downloaded on console yet. The developers list it as a known issue to be fixed after launch; in the meantime, share maps and saves between PC players only. See the platform overview for the other differences between versions.
