Transport Fever 3 System Requirements
The minimum is a Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600X, 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 1060-class card with 4 GB of video memory. Two rules matter more than the parts list: the processor must support AVX2, and the game must go on an SSD with 90 GB free. Without AVX2 the game will not start.

Windows PC
| Part | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 | Windows 11 |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X | Intel Core i7-13700K or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GeForce GTX 1060, Radeon RX 480 or Arc A380, 4 GB VRAM | GeForce RTX 3070, Radeon RX 6800 or Arc A770, 8 GB VRAM |
| Storage | 90 GB on an SSD | 90 GB on an SSD |
Linux has a native build with the same hardware requirements, on Ubuntu 24.04 or later. Some distributions have trouble running it; if yours does, try a mainstream one such as Ubuntu.
Mac
| Part | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| macOS | Sequoia 15.7 or later | Sequoia 15.7 or later |
| Chip | Apple M2 Pro | Apple M4 Pro |
| Memory | 16 GB | 24 GB |
| Storage | 90 GB on an SSD | 90 GB on an SSD |
Apple Silicon only. Intel Macs cannot run it; the Mac page lists which chips clear the bar.
How much space it really takes
Plan for the full 90 GB. Players report a Steam download of roughly 27 to 29 GB that unpacks to around 65 to 68 GB, and saves, mods and the shader cache grow from there. Steam players found no pre-load, so plan for the whole download after you buy.
Map size is the other memory question. The experimental sizes beyond Very Large need at least 16 GB of RAM; see the map size page.
Fixes for common problems
| Symptom | What to try |
|---|---|
| Black screen after changing a setting | Press Alt+Enter to switch to windowed mode, then set your monitor's resolution in the settings. |
| No mouse pointer | Alt+Enter to windowed mode, then switch off the hardware mouse cursor in the settings. |
| Game does not start at all | Check the CPU supports AVX2 and that you meet the minimum spec. With several displays, it may be running on another screen. |
| Low frame rate even when paused | The graphics card is the limit. Lower graphics settings or play at 1080p rather than 4K. |
| 2x and 4x speed do not speed up, vehicles jump | The CPU is the limit: every resident is simulated. Fewer towns packed closely together help; laptop CPUs struggle most. |
| Good hardware, still low frame rate | Close background programs, lower texture quality, and remove mods with high-resolution textures. |
| Broken settings | Delete settings.lua in the userdata folder while the game is closed. Reinstalling does not reset settings. |
There is no frame generation in the game on any platform. If you are choosing between PC and console, the platform overview compares them.
